Position: Groundskeeper/Custodian

Term: Permanent Part-Time

Department: Child and Family Services (1687 Elijah Road) andCommunity and Social Services Division Office (2114 Ball Park Road)

Division: Community and Social Services

Salary: Competitive salary range

Hours: 21 hours per week, typically scheduled from Friday to Sunday, must be flexible and willing to adjust work hours including day shifts, evening shifts, or weekdays, with the possibility of additional hours based on program requirements

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Groundskeeper/Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that the Child and Family Services and Community and Social Services Division office buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary condition. The goal is to maintain buildings and facilities that contribute to a vibrant, well-kept environment that meets the needs of community members, staff, and external partners. This position includes responsibility for both interior and exterior areas of the properties. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism and maintain respectful, courteous interactions with the public.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous employment experience in a similar capacity.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform the full range of janitorial duties as required including lifting (up to 50 lbs.), sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and operating equipment.
