TERM: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 4:30pm EST

Summary:
The Director, Human Resources is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the development, delivery, and provision of a full range of human resource management (HRM) services for Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (COTTFN), inclusive of occupational health & safety requirements. The role involves advising, supporting, and guiding departmental directors, managers, and supervisors on HR-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Leadership & Strategy
• Direct and oversee core HRM functions including recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and succession planning.
• Provide high-level HR advice to senior management on legislative compliance, policy interpretation, risk mitigation, and employee relations.
• Drive organizational development initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.
Employee & Labour Relations
• Lead initiatives to promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.
• Resolve complex employee relations matters with sensitivity and professionalism.
• Ensure consistency in policy application and adherence to employment law and best practices.
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
• Manage occupational health and safety programs and compliance requirements.
• Oversee emergency preparedness planning and implementation.
• Promote a culture of safety and well-being across the organization.
Team Management & HR Operations
• Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, ensuring high standards in service delivery.
• Manage the HR departmental budget and allocate resources efficiently.
• Monitor and improve internal HR processes, systems, and reporting.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• CHRP, CHRL, or equivalent designation is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, HR strategy, and OHS.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and navigate complex HR issues.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
