Location: London

Employment Group: Support

Hours:  35 hours per week.

Core hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Shiftwork is required and is based on operational needs.
Those shifts are: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on occasion, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Occasional weekends depending on College events.

Pay Details:  $32.42 per hour

Duties: 
Under the direction of the Director, Library Learning Commons, the Library Research Specialist is responsible for the provision of research and data services to the patrons of Fanshawe College Library, including askON virtual reference services. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the development and maintenance of the majority of the program-specific research guides in the online library. The incumbent shares responsibility with the Outreach Specialist for developing, promoting information literacy tools, tutorials and presentations to a diverse student user community.

Experience and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Education, Instructional Design, or Distance/Online Learning
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a community college or other adult learning setting combined with practical experience and knowledge of current educational technological trends and applications
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • HTML editors, Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, Flash programming experience required
  • Experience using a Learning Management System with design and delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills to coordinate and carry out long-term projects with minimal supervision, along with the ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously
  • Advanced computer skills, eLearning software
  • Multi-media production skills using a wide variety of hardware and software
