Note: This is a full-time Administrative position (37.5 hours per week).

Duties: 
Under the general direction of the Director, Athletics and Recreation, the Manager, Recreation, is responsible for the creation, integration and ongoing delivery of College-wide high-quality recreation programs, services, facilities and opportunities that promote the fitness, health and wellbeing of students, staff and the community. The incumbent is responsible for the operational leadership and development of a dedicated professional team that takes a student-centered approach to the operation of the recreation department, including implementation and contributing to the maintenance of a strategic plan with a focus on student opportunities that augment their collegial experience; opportunities supporting academic success, enhancing employability skills, and lifelong personal wellbeing.

Experience and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Business, Kinesiology or Recreational Studies
  • Minimum 7 years’ related progressive work experience in post-secondary or community sports administration and recreation services and activities
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience in sport and recreation program development and community and marketing connection development
  • Experience overseeing a fitness and wellness center
  • Experience with budget development is an asset
  • Certified First Aid and CPR
  • In-depth knowledge of post-secondary educational structure, sports and recreation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, develop and manage a customer-focused service team
  • Demonstrated skills in related areas such as health and safety risk assessment related to athletics
  • Financial acumen and management skills
  • Recreation facilities management experience
  • Demonstrated human resources management, supervisory skills and experience
  • Highly developed problem-solving/decision making and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent planning and time management skills to develop indoor outdoor recreation programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership within the learning environment re: student development, community development and leadership education
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute and collaborate effectively as part of a management team
