Position:              Mental Health and Crisis Response Worker

Term:                   Permanent Full-Time

Salary:                 Competitive salary range

Hours:                  35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m., must be flexible to align work schedule with program requirements which will include some evenings and weekends

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Mental Health & Crisis Response Worker (MHCRW) develops, coordinates, and creates a collaborative, responsive crisis service for individuals in crisis or emergency situations who are experiencing a critical incident/traumatic event.

This position will develop the Oneida Nation of the Thames Crisis Response Plan, collaborate and work cooperatively in partnership with internal/external care providers and organizations as well as health and social agencies.

The MHCRW will develop crisis response services, including de-escalation training and build capacity of Oneida Nation of the Thames employees, community groups, individuals and families to respond to critical incident/traumatic events (crisis events).

The MHCRW will provide assessments, crisis intervention, counselling, suicide prevention, community education/programs, referrals, trauma-informed care, and culturally appropriate care to support individuals experiencing a crisis.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  1. Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Social Service Worker, Psychotherapy, or Psychology.
  2. Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed with provincial regulatory body (OCSWSSW, CRPO, CPBAO).
  3. Certification in mental health, addictions, or health promotion, or willingness to obtain.
  4. Valid First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. 1 to 2 years’ experience working with clients in a community health care setting is considered an asset.
