MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS COORDINATOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Munsee-Delaware Nation Mental Health & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of health promotion, prevention, secondary and tertiary services including trauma-informed care for people who may have experienced mental illness, trauma, family, cultural and/or community disconnection, involvement with criminal justice, physical health, and behavioral issues.

To assist the Nation Manager in the performance of statutory, operational, and Supervisory duties related to Community Health & Wellness within the policies and procedures established by Munsee-Delaware Nation.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Intake clients’ needs are based on their unique history and current situation.
• Provide clients with mental health strategies to cope with challenges.
• Provide and refer resources to clients.
• Follow up with clients and track progress.
• Offer psychotherapy services.
• Improve client’s physical issues caused by mental health challenges, such as poor sleep, abnormal diet and nutrition, pain, low energy levels, drug abuse and self-harm.
• Help clients cope with life stress and mitigate issues like hopelessness, apathy, anger, sadness and fighting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Post-Secondary diploma/degree in mental health or related fields (Social Work, Psychology, Human Services)

• Two years of experience in community-based mental health services, with supervisory and volunteer management responsibilities an asset

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate mental health support groups for clients and their families. • A solid working knowledge of mental health service delivery.

• Ability to provide effective leadership, and support to staff, program volunteers and students.

• Ability to be fiscally responsible for annual budgets.

• Experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds experiencing a variety of mental health issues.

• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check

• Adhere to all safety protocols including COVID-19 safety practices and all full vaccinations that align with current public health regulations where medically able in accordance with our Immunization Policy

• Must work in a safe manner and promote the health and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients, and the community as outlined within MDN Employee Manual.
