Oneida Nation of the Thames is a First Nation Settlement located near the City of London, Ontario. Standing Stone School offers programming from FDK through Grade 6, serving approximately 190 students.
The Oneida Language Teacher supports and strengthens students’ skills in speaking, reading, writing, listening, and the practical use of the Oneida language. This role promotes the integration of the language into daily life, both within the classroom and across the broader community. As fluency increases among students, families, and community members, the program is expected to evolve and grow.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Oneida Language Teacher delivers the approved curriculum and plays a key role in advancing student learning and language development, while contributing to the school’s academic priorities. The teacher is expected to adapt instructional strategies and differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs of all learners, while actively supporting the revitalization and long-term sustainability of the Oneida language.
