Job Description

The London Abused Women’s Centre is a feminist agency that provides long-term, trauma-informed counselling, advocacy, and support to women and girls over the age of 12 who have been abused, assaulted, harassed, exploited, trafficked or who have been subjected to non-state torture.

We are looking for a Peer Support Worker with the following skills and experiences:
• experience working with marginalized women providing trauma-informed outreach, advocacy, and support to women and girls over the age of 12;
• supporting women and girls who have been sexually exploited and trafficked;
• knowledge of, and a feminist perspective on the political, social and legal issues surrounding men’s violence against women and girls, sexual exploitation and human trafficking;
• knowledge of the relationship between trauma, mental health and substance use;
• working with women and girls from diverse cultures and backgrounds;
• ability to liaise and work cooperatively with other service providers in the community;
• ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task, must demonstrate a high degree of mature judgement;
• must have access to a vehicle
• availability to work both days and evenings as required.

This is a 2-year contract, part-time, Monday through Friday, 28-hour per week position with training provided. We operate as a team where the voices of each employee are valued.
