Job Description

The Recreation and Wellness Worker Trainee is responsible for overseeing, leading, and organizing programs and events for children and youth aged 0 to 17. Key duties include engaging with participants to understand their needs and interests, providing guidance and direction, implementing behaviour management strategies, and promoting active participation in all activities. This role ensures that all programs and events foster social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development while adhering to relevant policies and procedures. Additionally, this position is accountable for the safety, security, and well-being of all program participants.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be registered in a Post-Secondary Diploma program in Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure Services, Social Services Worker, or a related field of study, with an expected completion date within two (2) years.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous employment experience in a similar capacity is considered an asset.
  • Experience monitoring and reviewing program budgets is considered an asset.
  • Workshop and/or facilitation experience, experience working with children and youth in leadership capacity, community development experience is considered an asset.
