Objective:

To develop and deliver strategic planning to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce that successfully contributes to the achievement of OFIFC’s long-range strategic (LRSP). In addition to

Key Deliverables:

  • Envisioning a long-term strategy and leading by example to improve HR & Admin continuously and support OFIFC’s LRSP
  • Ensuring that HR & Admin are fully supporting the business functions
  • Eliminating liabilities and sound delivery of HR & Admin.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership (30%):

  • Develops and executes internal Human Resources strategies and administrative functions that advance OFIFC’s LRSP, priorities and intended impact.
  • Provides organizational change management initiatives and engage in decision-making as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings including Board committees as directed.
  • Participates in the design and delivery of training of OFIFC Board members and Friendship Centre staff and Board of Directors, as required.
  • Conducts support visits and provides conflict resolution to Friendship Centres/ Delivery Sites as required.

Human Resources Leadership (40%):

  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of the HR Strategy; collaborates at the organizational level to determine priorities by serving as the influential voice for HR strategies, philosophies and initiatives within the organization.
  • ​​​Acts as a cultural steward, helping staff to navigate, understand and appreciate the OFIFC, Friendship Centre and Indigenous cultural contexts.
  • Oversees, plans, and directs initiatives in all functional areas of HR including workforce planning, recruitment, employment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, performance management, training, employee relations, policy development, employment law and compliance, and payroll.
  • Provides expertise, advice and coaching to HR and Leaders related to building positive employee experience and organizational culture, ensuring all decisions and advice consider equity, diversity and inclusion of employees.
  • Analyzes data and prepares reports to identify people or talent-related challenges and opportunities and develop recommendations to address or capture them.
  • Develops and implements organization-wide programs to comply with changes in employment law and legislations.
  • Maintains relationships with third-party human resources vendors and legal counsel.
  • Advises and supports Friendship Centres in developing and implementing HR initiatives by providing tools and sharing best practices.

Administration and Facilities Management (30%):

  • Directs administrative functions and manages OFIFC facilities such as physical assets to ensure efficient and consistent operations including the purchasing, maintenance, repair and replacement of fixed assets and office equipment.
  • Collaborates with OFIFC management staff to identify and deliver the required administrative support operations for the organization.
  • Ensures appropriate controls are in place to ensure OFIFC is compliant with all applicable regulations and policies related to the protection and security of information.
  • Ensures the organization’s compliance with applicable health and safety including building, security and certification requirements.
  • Assesses and leads continuous improvement of all internal processes, systems, tools and technology.
  • Develops, implements, reviews, revises and evaluates operational policies, procedures, guidelines, systems, priorities and strategies through appropriate approval processes to ensure effective management.

Experience and Qualifications

Education/Work Experience:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Industrial Relations or other relevant disciplines, and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience at a Senior Management level.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience preferably in a not-for-profit and/or within an Indigenous organization.

  • Ability to provide training and facilitation for groups of up to 100 participants
