SUPPORT WORKER
The Support Worker at Nimkee NupiGawagan Healing Centre is someone who supports vulnerable youth to help them make the most of their healing journey. They help them achieve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness in order to live a healthy life and achieve their life goals by offering support in each of the four quadrants of the medicine wheel (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) which is surrounded by social support.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Youth Facilitator/Counsellor Lead, or Teacher, the Support Worker will supervise youth in care, including providing guidance, education, promoting wellbeing, being an active listener and supporter. The Support Worker will implement behaviour support plans and provide assistance in emotional and practical needs. As a Support Worker, you document, case note, and provide shift summaries via platform or email, as needed. At all times, youth will be properly supervised.
Qualifications:
PSW or DSW certification and/or additional health qualifications. Commitment to helping others and providing dedicated person-centred support. An above-average level of written and spoken English. Competent knowledge of Information Technology, and Software. Excellent ability to case-note and document, Provide medical administration. Valid Class G Driver’s License. Indigenous person preferred, with a lived experience as an Indigenous parent. There are many other certifications that are required, once hired.
