Faculty of Science, Trades and Technology – Labs

 

Location:  London

Employment Group:  Support

Type of Position:  Full-time

Hours:  35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pay Details:  $42.56 per hour

Note: This is a full-time Support position (35 hours per week).

Duties: 
Under the general supervision of the Lab Operations Manager, Faculty of Science, Trades and Technology – Labs, the incumbent provides technical support and assistance to staff, faculty and students in the daily operations, maintenance, organization and implementation of electrical machinery (AC and DC), pneumatics and hydraulics systems, PLC/HMI, Robotics and mechatronics systems in the School of Applied Science and Technology.

The incumbent will also service and repair tools and equipment in the School which may include ordering/purchasing of parts. Designs and builds training aides.

Experience and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Technician or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ related experience with design, development, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of electrical machinery (AC and DC), pneumatics and hydraulics systems, PLC/HMI, Robotics and mechatronics systems or combination of experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • High knowledge level in Electrical (AC and DC) and mechanical principles
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Ontario Electrical Code
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
