YOUTH EDUCATOR
The Youth Educator provides exceptional activities for individuals and groups of youth at Nimkee NupiGawagan Residential/Live-in Treatment Centre for Youth. The Youth Educators will collaborate with others in the Centre in order to expand youth horizons in cultural, emotional, spiritual, and academic spheres to increase healthy independence and success. The Youth Educators will use a variety of facilitative approaches using a circle approach. At any given time, the Youth Educator, along with a Support Worker and others will supervise 5-15 youth. Facilitation may take place in classroom, circle and outdoors/on the land.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts with facilitation experience or Bachelor/Diploma of Education with OCT. Experience: 2-5 years working with youth. Indigenous person preferred, under Sec. 16 of CHRC. Knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods for facilitation and using heart and mind. Proficient in written and verbal English, Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Able to evaluate, adjust facilitation techniques, gain the interest, respect, and cooperation of youth.
